BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. — A female motorcyclist suffered serious injuries after police in Berrien County say she crossed the center line and ultimately struck three other vehicles on Sunday evening.

It happened on US-12 near Hampton Road in Galien Township.  Police say Gloria Helenbolt, 50, was riding a motorcycle when she crossed the center line, sideswiped a Volvo station wagon, then sideswiped a Honda SUV, and crashed head-on into a Kia SUV.

Helenbolt, who was not wearing a helmet, was thrown from her motorcycle and suffered a variety of serious injuries.

It is not clear what caused Helenbolt to cross the center line, but police do say that alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
