Baez leads West Michigan to 2-1 win over Fort Wayne

COMSTOCK PARK, Mich. (AP) — Sandy Baez allowed just five hits over eight innings, leading the WestMichigan Whitecaps over the Fort Wayne TinCaps in a 2-1 win Sunday.

Adenson Verastegui struck Jose Carlos Urena out with a runner on second to end the game for his third save of the season.

Baez (5-7) picked up the win after he struck out six while allowing one run.

Trailing 1-0 in the sixth, Fort Wayne tied the game when Austin Allen hit a solo home run.

The Whitecaps went out in front in the eighth inning when Will Allen hit an RBI single, driving in Rashad Brown.

Jose Castillo (0-1) went one inning, allowing one run and three hits while striking out one in the Midwest League game at Comstock Park, Michigan.
