Former GR police officer sentenced for child porn

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - A former Grand Rapids police officer was sentenced Tuesday for possessing child pornography.

Ryan Bruggink was convicted back in March for Criminal Sexual Conduct, 3rd degree, after his ex-girlfriend accused him of raping her.  During the investigation of that case, investigators found that Bruggink had been acception explicit videos and pictures via texts from a 17-year-old girl and saving them on his computer.  That led to charges of possessing child sexually abusive materials.

Tuesday, Bruggink was sentenced to five months for the possession charge and 16-84 months for using a computer to commit a crime.  He is getting credit for 113 days already served.

He has been sentenced to two-to-15 years in prison for the CSC conviction.
