WYOMING, Mich. — A pedestrian was killed after being hit by a vehicle on 28th Street in Wyoming early Monday morning, resulting in a portion of the road being shut down in both directions.

The crash happened at around 3:30 a.m. on 28th Street near Union.  Police say the victim, identified as Muhammadil Ibn-Muhammad Abu-Bakr, 33, was walking in the roadway when he was struck by an SUV driven by a 60-year-old woman. Abu-Bakr did not survive.

Neither speed nor alcohol were factors in the crash for the driver of the vehicle.

28th St. was closed in both directions between Union and Eastern for approximately two hours, while investigators remained on the scene. The road was re-opened at approximately 5:30 a.m.
