OTTAWA COUNTY, Mich. – A 3-year old girl has died after being hit by a Jeep Sunday afternoon.
Ottawa County deputies say the crash happened shortly after 3 p.m., on 64th Avenue just north of Quincy street in Zeeland Township.
Investigators say, a Jeep was traveling northbound on 64th Avenue when the toddler ran across the road. The driver of the vehicle swerved and tried to avoid hitting her, but was not able to avoid the collision.
The 3-year old, identified by police as Makenna Fraaza, was with her mother and friends who were standing on the opposite side of the road when the collision occurred. Deputies say Fraaza was unresponsive en route to the hospital, and passed away a couple of hours later.
Deputies say speed and alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the crash. The driver of the Jeep was not injured.
