SOUTH HAVEN, Mich. -- The blueberry harvest in underway in West Michigan and many locations allow you to pick them yourself.

DeGrandchamp farms in South Haven will be open on Tuesday, July 5, for their first day of the U-Pick season. Katy DeGrandchamp is looking forward to opening day. "It's a family tradition to come out each and every year and pick blueberries with their families, so we're excited to see everyone.”

The 75-year-old bushes are looking great this season. Katy DeGrandchamp says it's all thanks to a span of perfect weather. "We had a perfect winter. We've had great growing conditions. We've had sunny days, timely rain."

And the extra heat this summer, not a problem for blueberries. Katy says that the sun does help sweeten the berries.
