GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Calder Plaza is getting a makeover, and Grand Rapids city leaders want the public's input for changes.
Downtown Grand Rapids, Inc. hosted a walking tour and possibilities workshop Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m. for ideas.
The plaza is the location of many festivals, political rallies and other special events, so there's a need to accommodate both large-scale events and everyday use.
One of the ideas discussed Tuesday night was adding more shaded areas to the plaza to help people beat the heat. There might also be a water fountain added.
The group will evaluate ideas in August and unveil the "people's choice" for the plaza in September.
Calder Plaza includes the area around the Kent County Administrative Building, Grand Rapids City Hall and La Grande Vitesse.
