PORTLAND, Mich. — One year ago, a tornado tore through Portland, leaving damaged buildings and lives. But right away, residents united in rebuilding, even though some of that rebuilding continues even a year later.
Residents are planning special events to observe the occasion:
Celebrate Portland
- Community Recovery Celebration involving the 3 churches that were hit the hardest
- Wednesday, June 22, 7 p.m.
- Bridge Street, Portland
- Special service of thanksgiving
- The churches will host open houses to reveal renovations
- Live music
- June 25-26
- Goodwill in Portland
- Food, t-shirts, games, face painting.
