KALAMAZOO, Mich. — A Friday night crash ended in one person being arrested and a busy road being shut down for two hours.

It happened just before midnight on the 2100 block of S. Westnedge Ave.

Police said they found a utility pole was severed and several power lines were hanging dangerously close to the ground. The vehicle that hit the pole came to a stop after police say it hit a home and a parked car.

Three people inside the car had minor injuries. The people in the home were not hurt.

Shortly after the first crash, another vehicle on the same road was damaged when it ran into debris from the damaged pole. That driver was not hurt.

Because of the dangerous power lines, Consumers Energy crews closed the road to clear the wires and repair the utility pole.

Police arrested the driver of the first car for operating while under the influence of alcohol.
