Hope Summer Repertory Theatre is kicking off its 45th season with great music and plays that the whole family can enjoy.
Their opening play is "Hairspray," about a girl in the '60s who wins a spot on a local TV dance program who overcomes bullying, bias, and the issues in her community about segregation.
"Hairspray" opens Friday at 8 p.m. at the DeWitt Student Cultural Center Theatre.
"Oedipus" is another big production at the theater this summer, where Oedipus finds a town under the curse of the Sphinx, who won't free the city unless her riddle is answered.
"Oedipus" opens on June 24 at 8 p.m.
