Kalamazoo men jailed on gun and drug charges

KALAMAZOO, Mich. — A pair of local men were arrested Saturday morning on firearms and drug charges.

At 9 a.m. Saturday, Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety officer Tim Millard conducted a traffic stop in the 500 block of West North Street for a moving violation. The driver and front seat passenger quickly exited the vehicle but were detained.

A K-9 unit searched the vehicle, resulting in a Ruger .22 revolver being found underneath the driver’s seat. A search of the front seat passenger also resulted in a delivery amount of crack cocaine and several hundred dollars being seized.

Both of the vehicle’s occupants were men in their 30s from Kalamazoo.

The driver was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon, being a felon in possession of a firearm, attempted resisting and obstructing arrest, and driving on a suspended license. He was free on a circuit court bond for a previous gun case.

The front seat passenger was arrested for possession with intent to deliver crack cocaine and attempted resisting and obstructing arrest.
