MUSKEGON, Mich. -- Muskegon Police say a 16-year-old boy was killed in a shooting Friday.
The teen's body was found in the backyard of a home in the area of Laketon Avenue and Hoyt Street.
A person of interest is in custody in connection with the shooting. A weapon was also recovered.
A group of local pastors called the Caution Team of Muskegon County arrived at the area to help the family cope with the tragedy.
"This is our community, and our goal is to do all that we can as pastors to aid and assist families in critical situations such as this," said Samuel Greer, a pastor with Queen Esther Church.
Police say the incident remains under investigation.
