Abbie Kopf heading back for surgery for infection

Posted

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – One of the victims in the Kalamazoo shooting is heading back to surgery.

Abigail Kopf was critically wounded in the February 20 shooting that left six dead and a second woman wounded.  Kopf had surgery in May to replace a part of her skull with a metal plate.

The Abbie Kopf’s Recovery Facebook page where family has been updating everyone with her progress posted that one of the incisions from Abbie’s recent surgery has become infected.  It is being treated with antibiotics, but has been determined that the skin there is too tight.

The post also mentions that Abbie’s pet pig, which was something that she first asked about after the shooting, is being put to sleep because of old age.
