Severe thunderstorms for West Michigan this weekend?

Posted
and last updated

West Michigan – A cold front approaching from the northwest will bring the threat of strong thunderstorms to the area. The best chance will be from Friday evening to early Saturday.

The Storm Predication Center has all of West Michigan in a Marginal Risk of strong to severe thunderstorms mainly Friday night. The primary threat will be strong and gusty winds and possibly large hail.

Our Future Track Model has a line of strong thunderstorms from the central Upper Peninsula to western Wisconsin at 10 PM Friday night. The line of storms will be racing to the southeast. The best chance of severe weather at this time will be over Wisconsin.

By 2 AM the line of storms has moved into West Michigan from Grand Rapids northward. Given the time of night, these storms should be weakening as they travel to the southeast.
