Pennfield student in serious condition after being hit by car

CALHOUN COUNTY, Mich. — A 12-year-old girl was seriously injured Friday after being hit by a car in front of Pennfield Middle School.

According to the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department, officials were called to the area at about 2:33 p.m.   The girl was crossing Pennfield Road when she was struck by an eastbound vehicle.

Officials said she was walking across the road to her mother’s car at the time of the incident.

She was taken to the hospital by helicopter and is currently in serious condition, according to the sheriff’s department.
