GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- St. Cecilia Music Center launched a $5.5 million campaign to start renovations to the 122-year-old landmark over the coming summer and fall seasons.
Renovations on the historic Grand Rapids establishment will begin next month and are expected to end around October 2016. The renovations included are, but not limited to, the following:
- New seating in Royce Auditorium
- New Roof
- Professional sound and lighting systems for Royce Auditorium
- Remodeling of lower level administrative offices and rehearsal spaces
- Upgraded HVAC equipment
- Safety and security upgrades
- ADA upgrades
- Remodeling of lobby and box office
- Upgraded energy efficient lighting throughout the building
- New furniture and fixtures throughout the building
- Flooring
- Bathroom upgrades
- Music equipment and storage
- Refreshing of entire building through refurbished finishes
- Signage for better marketing opportunities
So far, St. Cecilia has raised $4 million of their total $5.5 million goal. Some donations have come from well-known local foundations such as The Richard and Helen DeVos Foundation and The Meijer Foundation. A grand re-opening gala is being planned for November 3 and an open house for the public will be scheduled in late fall.
