NEWAYGO, Mich. – A 20-year-old Grant Township man is in jail after leading deputies on a chase.
The incident began just before noon Wednesday, according to the Newaygo County Sheriff’s office. Deputies were assisting parole agents with the Michigan Department of Corrections with checking on a probationer in Grant Township, when the man fled in a pickup truck.
The man led police on a chase into Kent County where the man tried to turn into a field at 20 Mile Road and Red Pine Avenue, but he crashed. He was not injured and taken into custody without incident.
The man was arrested for a probation violation, fleeing and eluding police, driving on a revoked license and possession of methamphetamine.
