Improving weather through the weekend

WEST MICHIGAN — A cold front is making its way through the area this morning with limited moisture along it. Still, we are tracking a few showers and perhaps an isolated, non-severe thunderstorm until about noon or 1pm. Here’s a look at how Future Track HD sees the rain moving through at mid-morning:

As you can see, it suggests only a few isolated showers moving through along this front. The European forecast model suggests a little more significant rain could fall:

Rain totals

It is forecasting around a tenth of an inch of rain in most areas. I think the reality will be a few hundredths of an inch in spots, with some areas not seeing any measurable rain at all.

After the widely scattered showers push through, cooler, more stable air will invade the area from the northwest. This will give us pleasant conditions through the rest of the weekend. In fact, Tulip Time and Mother’s Day are both looking great:

Tulip Time forecast

Tomorrow looks completely dry and pleasant with highs generally in the upper 60s. Although we have rain in the forecast on Monday with low pressure slowly approaching from the Plains, it looks like it will hold off until after dusk.
