VAN BUREN COUNTY, Mich. —  The Van Buren County Animal Control Shelter is rolling out a new adoption program to give veterans some new companions.

The program, named Corps Companions, was created to match service members and their families to animals for a sense of comfort for veterans, whether retired or discharged.

The program also extends its services to military, including all branches of armed forces and coast guard.

All animals are free of charge, fully vaccinated, heart worm checked, altered and ready to be paired with their new families.   New owners will be responsible for a $10 license fee, according to a release.

Immediate family members that are closest to the military personnel that are also in need of comfort may also qualify.  If you, or anyone you know, fits the criteria please contact the Van Buren County Animal Shelter at (269) 621-4624.
