Elderly couple killed in head-on Montcalm Co. crash

MONTCALM COUNTY, Mich. — An elderly Grand Rapids couple died following a head-on car crash Sunday evening.

The crash happened around 7:15 p.m. on M-66 near North Six Lakes Road and Cutler Road in Belvidere Township, according to the Montcalm County Sheriff’s Office.

Raymond Wrona, 88, and Mary Wrona, 88, were killed in the crash.   Mary was pronounced dead at the scene and Raymond died after being airlifted to the hospital, the Montcalm County Sheriff's Office said in a release.

Police said a man driving a black Audi sedan was attempting to pass two vehicles when he hit a Buick head-on.  The Wronas were riding in the Buick.

The driver of the Audi, a 26-year-old Wyoming man, and his passenger, a 28-year-old Comstock Park woman, were hospitalized.
