WEST MICHIGAN- Last weekend was quite warm, and reminded us what springtime is capable of. This weekend won’t quite be as nice for you if you’re looking forward to a lot of sunshine and warmer air.
A few rain showers Friday morning will exit in time for any evening plans, but the next system to the southwest will arrive on our doorstep by late afternoon Saturday.
Saturday morning will be one of the few times we’ll enjoy sunshine this weekend. We’ll warm up fairly quickly with abundant sunshine, but clouds thicken up by late morning.
Rain showers arrive from the southwest by the afternoon, and they’ll continue their trek northeast throughout the evening. This will be the end of the sunshine for the rest of the day for many locations in West Michigan.
Winds will also remain out of the east at 15-20 mph as light showers move closer to the Grand Rapids area by the evening. Keep this in mind if you have any weekend plans Saturday evening, as it looks like rain will increase in coverage and intensity throughout the night.
Heavier rainfall continues as the clock moves closer to midnight Sunday. An isolated rumble of thunder is possible, but this will generally be just a very steady rain into the nighttime hours.
Pesky showers remain in the area Sunday morning as well, and it will feel much cooler to start the day. Winds out of the northeast will make it feel like it’s in the mid 30s! Rain tapers off and perhaps a little bit of sunshine is possible by the end of the day Sunday.
The further north you are, the less rain you’ll receive. Totals could reach up to an inch in some places, but expect at least a half an inch of rainfall when it’s all said and done by Sunday afternoon.
Enjoy the sun for the first half of the weekend. If you got something to do outside, make sure Saturday morning is the time you do it! Otherwise, waiting until early next week is your best bet, as we’ll dry out and warm up as well.
