CHICAGO, Illinois — Matthew Stafford has some more protection.

Ohio State offensive tackle Taylor Decker was taken 16th overall by the Detroit Lions on Thursday night during the 2016 NFL Draft.

The first draft pick of the Bob Quinn era in Detroit shores up the Lions’ offensive line with the Big Ten’s Offensive Lineman of the Year and a consensus All-American. Decker started three years for the Buckeyes, helping them to the 2015 College Football Playoff championship.
