GEORGETOWN TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Officials have removed a vehicle that was driven into a swimming pool Sunday morning.
The incident happened shortly before 9 a.m. Sunday in the 1100 block of Maplewood Drive. The son of 55-year-old Dave and 57-year-old Kathy Ymker of Hudsonville told FOX 17 that his parents were on their way to church when their 2016 Chevrolet Equinox somehow ended up in the pool.
The Ottawa County Sheriff's Office said driver Dave Ymker experienced a medical condition. Tire tracks indicated that the car left the roadway, went through the front yard of a house, sideswiped the house, through a fence surrounding the pool and then into the swimming pool. The homeowners were gone on vacation.
OnStar came on in the car and alerted authorities to the crash.
About 4 to 5 feet of water was in the pool at the time of the accident.
Dispatchers told FOX 17 that at least one person was injured. The couple were both transported by ambulance to the hospital in stable condition but their son said they are expected to be OK.
Both Ymkers were wearing safety belts at the time of the crash.
Their son said the Ymkers just leased the car last week.
