GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Several events are being held throughout West Michigan to celebrate the life of superstar Prince, who died on Thursday.
With over 100 million records sold worldwide, a Golden Globe, an Academy Award and seven Grammys, the man once known as “The Purple One,” has given his adoring fans much to celebrate.
The string of West Michigan events started Friday. In Grand Rapids, the Waldron Public House is holding a dance partyto Prince’s music beginning at 10 pm.
Also on the same night, at the Black Arts and Cultural Center in Kalamazoo played songs from the Pop icon for their Downtown Music Hop event Friday evening.
If you can’t make either of those events- don’t fret! On April 24, grab your Raspberry Berets and listen to all your favorites at the “Prince Purple Rain Event” being held at the Apartment Lounge in Grand Rapids.
For those who can’t make it over the weekend, you still have other opportunities to celebrate Prince’s legacy. Celebration! Cinema Woodland in Grand Rapids is showing Purple Rain from April 24 to April 30.The UICA will also be showing the successful 80s film on May 3.
