COMSTOCK PARK, Mich – The West Michigan Whitecaps fell to the Lake County Captains, 6-3, Tuesday night at Fifth Third Ballpark.
Starting pitcher Sandy Baez (0-2) lasted 4.2 innings and allowed three runs. The Whitecaps record falls back to an even 6-6. The Whitecaps committed three errors, left a season-high 12 runners on base in the contest, and went 3-for-19 with runners in scoring position.
Whitecaps outfielder Jose Azocar provided the highlight of the game in the third inning, catching a fly ball near the warning track in right field and throwing out base runner Tyler Krieger attempting to advance to third.
The Whitecaps finish their three-game series with Lake County Wednesday afternoon at 12p.m. Jordan Smith will make his first start for West Michigan.
