Whitecaps pitcher suspended by MLB for 50 games

COMSTOCK PARK, Mich. — West Michigan Whitecaps starting pitching Spenser Watkins has been suspended by Major League Baseball for 50 games for a positive drug test.

This is Watkins’ second suspension.

Watkins was 1-0 with a 1.69 ERA and 12 strikeouts so far this season.

Watkins was drafted by the Detroit Tigers in 30th round of the 2014 draft from Western Oregon.
