Michigan prisoner sues after damaging teeth on a rock in a taco

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – A prison inmate in the Upper Peninsula says that he damaged his teeth after biting into rocks that were in a taco.

Jeffrey Spates filed a federal lawsuit in U.S. District Court in Grand Rapids Monday.  The suit was filed against Michigan’s former food service contractor, Aramark Correctional services.

Spates is seeking $10,000 for cosmetic surgery and $25,000 in damages.

Aramark was replaced as Michigan’s food contractor in 2015 after multiple complaints of employee misconduct and food quality issues.
