GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – A prison inmate in the Upper Peninsula says that he damaged his teeth after biting into rocks that were in a taco.
Jeffrey Spates filed a federal lawsuit in U.S. District Court in Grand Rapids Monday. The suit was filed against Michigan’s former food service contractor, Aramark Correctional services.
Spates is seeking $10,000 for cosmetic surgery and $25,000 in damages.
Aramark was replaced as Michigan’s food contractor in 2015 after multiple complaints of employee misconduct and food quality issues.
