SPRING LAKE TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Two people were injured in a three-vehicle head-on crash where the offending driver fled the scene Saturday.
At 6:46 a.m. Saturday, the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office was called to an accident on southbound U.S. 31 at Van Wagoner in Spring Lake Township. Upon arriving at the scene, they found two people hurt and that the at-fault driver had left the scene.
An eyewitness told police that the unknown driver had been southbound on U.S. 31 changing lanes when that vehicle hit the back of a vehicle driven by Aaron Paul-Monroe Anderson, 18, of Muskegon, spinning him around and Anderson’s vehicle coming to a stop northbound in the southbound lane. A vehicle driven by Theresa Ann Gooden, 50, of Muskegon also was southbound when she hit the Anderson vehicle head-on.
Police said the at-fault driver then fled the scene.
The eyewitness was unable to provide any identifying details about either that driver or the vehicle that caused the collision.
Anderson suffered a minor neck injury and was transported to Mercy Hospital in Muskegon by North Ottawa Community Hospital EMS. Gooden sought her own treatment.
The incident remains under investigation by the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office.
