GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- A day after being named to the league's All-Rookie team, Grand Rapids Griffins defenseman Robbie Russo has been named to the AHL's All-Star Second Team for the end of the regular season.
Russo is third among all league defensemen with 39 points (5 goals, 34 assists) -- but he leads the AHL with a plus-47 rating, the highest in the league since 1993.
So how did he do it?
"Everybody asks me about it and I tell them the same thing. I don't really know how it got that high," he said after Thursday's practice.
"It's getting a lot of attention. I don't really know what it takes. All the defensemen here are good. The forwards are good. We're winning a lot of games."
"I really don't have an answer for you," he laughed.
