GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Mary Free Bed Wheelchair and Adaptive Sports program received a $27,000 donation Thursday from a national group holding a conference in Grand Rapids this week.
The 24th National Association of Sports Commissions (NASC) Sports Event Symposium has been held over the last four days at DeVos Place in downtown Grand Rapids. The $27,000 is the highest amount of any annual NASC Sports Legacy Fund donation in a host city, according to the West Michigan Sports Commission (WMSC) .
900 people attended the conference that generated an estimated $1 million for the region, according to the WMSC. The Mary Free Bed program serves 400 children and 300 adults in a variety of team sports, clinics and camps.
