BATTLE CREEK, Mich -- Investigators with the Battle Creek Police Department are working to determine what happened to a man who was found by officers, unresponsive, Wednesday evening.

The man was found in the 100 block of Upton Avenue. Police got the call around 10:30 p.m.

Friends found the man, described as being in his mid-30s, unconscious on the floor in the home. They attempted CPR after calling 911.

He was pronounced dead after paramedics arrived.

At first, police were told the man may have been in some kind of altercation, but it was determined that wasn't the case. Instead, he may have suffered a medical condition.

An autopsy is planned.
