West Michigan – The Storm Predication Center has placed parts of the area under a “Marginal Risk” of severe thunderstorms on Thursday. The risk area is mainly along and south of I-96.
Low pressure will track into Iowa by the evening hours of Wednesday with scattered showers and thunderstorms moving through the state. Thunderstorms should remain below severe limits, although they may produce some small hail and gusty winds.
A better chance of severe thunderstorms are possible for West Michigan late Thursday morning into Thursday afternoon. The storm will track across the state and drag a cold front through Lower Michigan. Winds gusts over 60 mph and hail greater than 1 inch are possible, but the risk is not widespread.
