CALHOUN COUNTY, Mich. — The Emmett Township Department of Public Safety is investigating an armed robbery that occurred Saturday afternoon at Penny Pinchers.
Penny Pinchers Discount Groceries and Close-Outs is located at 1255 E. Columbia Ave. At about 1 p.m. Saturday a white male wearing a snowmobile style suit with an orange bandanna covering his face walked into the store and robbed a clerk while displaying a knife.
The suspect then left the store in a black short box pickup truck from the late 1980s, believed to be either a GMC or Chevrolet and having a loud exhaust. The vehicle headed northbound on Grenville Street.
There were no injuries reported. An undisclosed amount of cash was taken.
Emmett Township Public Safety detectives are working on obtaining surveillance footage and will provide more information as they get it.
