Kalamazoo shooting victim thanks community during gospel benefit

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (AP/WXMI) — A gospel music concert was held on Friday to benefit a woman wounded in a series of shootings in the Kalamazoo area.

Tiana Carruthers was the first victim in the Feb. 20 shootings that killed six people and wounded two others. Carruthers thanked the community for their support through a special video message during the benefit.

The concert took place at the Galilee Baptist Church at 7 p.m. The show hosted local acts such as 2uese and the Michigan Nightingales from Kalamazoo. Cornell Burton from Gary, Indiana will also performed.
