LANDOVER, Maryland — An officer in Prince George’s County in Maryland is dead following an ambush-style attack outside of police headquarters a suburb of Washington, DC.
The Prince George’s County Police Department said on Twitter that officer Jacai Colson, 28, died in an “unprovoked attack.” The department said Colson was a four-year veteran of the force.
Initially police said Colson was just days shy of his 29th birthday.
The shooting occurred Sunday afternoon near the police station in Landover, a suburb of Washington, D.C. Authorities say another person, who is not a police officer, also was wounded.
Police said two suspects were in custody.
