Suspects in armed robbery arrested following high-speed pursuit

ALBION, Mich. — Three people are in custody after an armed robbery at a pharmacy led to a high-speed chase.

The Albion Department of Public Safety said around 9:00 a.m. two men entered the Parks Drug store on South Superior Street in Albion. The men held up employees at gunpoint and demanded prescription drugs.

According to officials, the suspects left the store with multiple drugs and made it to a vehicle waiting for them with another suspect who was driving.

The vehicle headed northbound on Clinton Street, where three ADPS officers saw it pass by after being notified of the robbery.

A pursuit began, as those officers went after the vehicle as it was headed down North Eaton Street to west bound I-94.

While on the highway, the suspect’s vehicle reached speeds of over 100 mph. At some point during the chase, one of the rear tires blew, but the vehicle continued to drive more than 100 mph.

Eventually, the vehicle exited south on M-66 in Battle Creek.

Michigan State Police Troopers then managed to end the pursuit between I-94 and Beckley Road.

​Two men and one woman were taken into custody.

No injuries were reported.

Officials say multiple agencies were involved in the chase including the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department, Marshall Police Department, Emmett Public Safety Department, Battle Creek Police Department and Michigan State Police.

Parks Drug store was closed during the investigation, it is now back open.
