DOWAGIAC, Mich. — Dowagiac Police say a 53-year-old man was arrested Thursday after allegedly threatening to kill people at a Borgess Lee medical clinic.

An employee who works at a Borgess Lee facility in the 500 block of Main Street contacted police at about 9 a.m. Thursday after the man called and threatened to shoot people at the clinic.   The employee told police the man was a patient who was upset with the clinic, according to a release.

Before carrying out that threat, the man reportedly told the Borgess employee he was going to The Timbers of Cass County, 55432 Colby St., to visit a relative.  He was arrested there without incident, police said in a release.

Police say they searched the man’s vehicle and did not find any weapons.   He is currently being held at the Cass County jail and is facing charges of making a terrorist threat and threatening telephone communication.

The clinic and Borgess Lee Memorial Hospital were both placed on lockdown while police investigated the threat.

The man’s name will be released pending formal arraignment.
