1 killed in overnight mobile home fire in Ionia County

IONIA, Mich. — One person was killed in a mobile home fire in Ionia County early Wednesday morning.

It happened at around 12:43 a.m. at a mobile home located near 200 Hanline St. in Ionia.  When crews arrived on the scene, they described heavy smoke and flames coming from the structure.

They were advised that someone may still be inside.  When firefighters were able to gain entry, they located the body of a 75-year-old man.  No information regarding the victim’s identity will be released until family members have been notified.  Crews have been told that there was also a dog and cat in the home at the time, and they are also believed to have died in the fire.

A cause has yet to be determined.
