NOVI, Mich. (AP) — Authorities say a suburban Detroit police officer has been treated and released after being dragged by a motorist following a traffic stop.
City of Novi spokeswoman Sheryl Walsh tells WDIV-TV that the officer pulled over a woman around 2 a.m. Monday and she refused to get out of the vehicle. Walsh says the woman had two children with her and told the officer she needed to make arrangements for them.
Walsh says the woman then drove away and the officer, who tried to restrain her, was dragged about 20 to 25 yards. The woman was being sought.
WXYZ-TV reports the traffic stop was for a driving violation.
