Michigan’s Caris LeVert out for season because of ailing leg

ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) — Michigan senior Caris LeVert has been ruled out for the rest of the season because of a lower left leg injury.

The 6-foot-7 LeVert has played only once in the past two months, and the Wolverines will have to compete for an NCAA Tournament spot without him. Michigan hosts No. 16 Iowa on Saturday in its regular-season finale.

LeVert says in a statement he is still feeling discomfort and is unable to help the team the way he wants. Coach John Beilein says LeVert’s long-term health is what is important.

LeVert and senior Spike Albrecht — who is also out for the season for injury-related reasons — will be honored before the Iowa game.
