CHESTER TOWNSHIP, Mich.—— A 24-year-old woman is dead and a 32-year-old man suffered serious injuries after crashing their vehicle into a tree late Saturday night.

Ottawa County deputies responded to the crash around 11pm on 24th Avenue south of Harding Street.

Deputies said the driver, Bobbie Jo Bridges, was traveling with passenger Dane Hinkley in a 2001 Ford Expedition south on 24th Avenue when she crossed the roadway, but overturned and hit a large tree.

Hinkley was not wearing a seat belt, and was ejected from the Expedition, according to deputies.  He was transported by Aeromed to a local hospital and is in serious condition.

Bridges was pinned in the Expedition for a long period of time before she was extricated from the vehicle.  She did not survive the crash.
