GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Eric Zane’s employment situation got a bit of a boost Thursday.

Zane was fired earlier this week from the popular Free Beer & Hot Wings Morning Show on 97.9fm, WGRD and also as public address announcer at the DeltaPlex for the Grand Rapids Drive.  A massive social media outcry has followed from his fans.

Zane has been a public address announcer for the Grand Rapids Griffins at Van Andel Arena as well and announced on his Facebook page that the Griffins are letting Zane do several other “game/arena/front office related jobs” in coming weeks.  He says in the post that the Griffins are “chronicling my endeavors and will feature them on the ‘big board’ during the second period of Saturday’s game in a new segment called, “Back To Work…With Eric Zane.”

At Wednesday night’s Griffins game, several fans held signs supporting Zane, which he posted on his Facebook page. He also is posting several homemade videos and says that by the weekend, he’ll have a YouTube channel.
