MUSKEGON, Mich. - Muskegon Police say a man who was found dead inside a home Monday died from injuries he suffered while breaking into the home.

Lavonte Moses, 22, was found dead in an unoccupied home in the 400 block of Catherine Avenue on Monday.  He had been reported missing on February 13.  Family and friends said that they last heard from him on February 8.

Investigators say that the home was deadbolt locked from the inside and that Moses had broken a first floor window to get inside.  Evidence at the scene shows that Moses critically cut himself on the glass while climbing inside.  The preliminary results show that Moses died from losing a significant amount of blood from his cuts.

Police say that Moses was alone in the home.  Toxicology results are still pending and not expected for several weeks.

Police are still looking for anyone who may have had contact with Moses prior to his death.  Anyone with information should call Muskegon Police at 231-724-6750 or Silent Observer at 231-722-7463.
