Suspect arraigned in connection to weekend Holland Twp shooting

OTTAWA COUNTY, Mich. — Ottawa County deputies have made an arrest in their investigation into aSunday morningshooting in Holland Township.

Edwind Isreal Serrato, 27, was arraigned Tuesday afternoon in Holland District Court in charges related to the weekend shooting that left a 21-year-old man injured. He was charged with assault with intent to murder and felony firearms.

The shooting happened in the 3700 block of 136th Avenue in Holland Township at around 2 AM Sunday morning. The injured man was taken to the hospital and treated for life-threatening injuries, where he was later released.

Investigators mentioned that their initial investigation was difficult due to a lack of cooperation, but tips led them to the home of the suspect, where they believe they found the handgun used in the shooting .

This incident may be gang-related, deputies say. The investigation is ongoing.

Serrato’s bond was set at $250,000. He’s lodged at the Ottawa County jail.
