MUSKEGON, Mich. -- The body of a 22-year-old Muskegon man was found at a home in the 400 block of Catherine Avenue Monday.

Police were called to the area at about 1:48 p.m. after people who were renovating the home found the man's body, according to a release.

Bob Jackson said he found the body.

“We got right back out of there and called 911. We knew something bad had happened in there," Jackson told FOX 17.

Family members have identified the man as Lavonte Moses. His mother, Molly, spoke with FOX 17 on Tuesday.

"He can’t just pop up no more and tell me ‘momma, I love you’ and give me a hug. I won’t have that anymore. That part of my life is closed," Molly Moses said tearfully.

Police said in a release he was reported missing Feb. 13, but they believe he was likely at the home before then. Family and friends said he was last heard from on February 8th.

Police said they're waiting on the autopsy report to learn what caused Moses' death.
