KENT COUNTY, Mich. — A 17-year-old Rockford girl was airlifted to a local hospital after a car accident late Friday night.
Deputies responded to the crash at 9:21PM at the intersection of 17 Mile Road and Fruit Ridge Avenue in Tyrone Township.
17-year-old Meredith Dickson was driving a 1994 Pontiac Grand Am with two passengers, Rockford 17-year-old Jacqueline Jernisan and Cannon Township 16-year-old Sierra Olejniczak. Dickson drove through the intersection and was struck on the driver’s side by a 2007 Ford Expedition.
Deputies say 32-year-old Abraham Cavasos, the driver of the Ford, had the right of way.
Dickson was airlifted to a local hospital with serious injuries. Jernisan was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
Olenjniczak and Cavasos were not injured in the crash.
Deputies say alcohol isn’t a factor.
