Allegan County principal charged with criminal sexual conduct

ALLEGAN, Mich. — A principal who works with the Allegan Area Educational Services Agency was charged Wednesday with several counts of criminal sexual conduct involving other staff members.

Jonathan Eugene Garcia, 34, was charged  with three counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct and a total of eight counts of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct, according to Allegan County District Court officials.

The charges involve inappropriate contact with two adult staff members, according to the Allegan County Sheriff’s Department.

Garcia is principal of the Hillside Centers, according to a statement from the AAESA.   He was placed  on administrative leave  Monday after the allegations were reported.

The superintendent’s office contacted police the same day, according to the Allegan County Sheriff’s Department.

“There are no allegations whatsoever of misconduct involving any students, in either AAESA or local districts,” the AAESA said in a release.

Garcia is due back in court Feb. 11.
