WYOMING, Mich. — An 18-year-old suspect in the murder of Kelloggsville High School junior Isaiah Bluewas formally charged Monday morning.

Mitchell Steven Savickas was charged in Wyoming District Court felony murder, three counts of armed robbery and felony firearms.

Daniel Benavides, 16, is also facing the same charges in connection with Blue’s death.  A 15-year-old male is expected to be charged with three counts of armed robbery in connection with the incident.

Blue, 17, was shot and killed the night of Jan. 27 after he and two others exited a Rapid bus on 44th Street at Rhodes Avenue, according to police.

The three teen suspects allegedly followed them and once they caught up with Blue’s group, two of the suspects pulled out guns and attempted to rob them.

Police say Blue and the others took off running.  According to court documents, Savickas shot at them with a rifle, and Blue was hit.  He ran across the street and collapsed.   He was taken to the hospital and and pronounced dead.

Blue had recently moved to the area from Pennsylvania.
