SYRACUSE, NY — Grand Rapids Griffins captain Jeff Hoggan had two goals and an assist on his 38th birthday and fellow Griffin Xavier Ouellet added two goals and two assists, helping the Central Division to an AHL All-Star Challenge championship on Monday night.
The Griffin representatives helped the Central go 3-1 in their four games in the Challenge, culminating with a 2-1 win in the championship game against the Atlantic Division.
Hoggan was selected as a captain for his first All-Star appearance — while Ouellet made his All-Star debut after having to miss last season’s as he was on recall with the Detroit Red Wings.
