SHINGLETON, Mich. (AP) – A snowmobile operator has been killed after being hit by a pickup truck in the Upper Peninsula.
State police at the Negaunee Post say the snowmobile drove across M-94 in Shingleton in Schoolcraft County around 7:30 p.m. Friday and into the truck’s path.
The trail crossing is marked.
The snowmobile operator was pronounced dead at a hospital in Munising. The pickup driver and a passenger in the truck were not injured.
The snowmobile operator’s name has not been released.
It was at least the second fatal snowmobile crash in the Upper Peninsula this week. A 37-year-old Saginaw man was killed Wednesday night when he failed to negotiate a turn and hit a tree in Alger County’s Au Train Township.
